On Thursday, July 6, 2023, Mr. Lee Rowley, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Local Government and Building Safety for the UK Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities* visited the Tokyo Metropolitan Government together with other government officials.

The TMG presented on low carbon building measures during the face-to-face meeting, including the new solar generation mandate which mandates the installation of solar generation equipment on new buildings as well as high-quality insulation, energy-efficient appliances, and ZEV chargers. After the presentation, the participants actively exchanged views on promoting low-carbon buildings.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government views establishing renewable energy sources as the largest source of energy as one of the most critical actions required to decarbonize society. To achieve this goal the TMG will continue to cultivate its cooperative relationship with the British government and embassy and by exchanging views on various climate change countermeasures.
