On Thursday, June 22, 2023, a video message from Governor Koike was broadcast during the U.S.-Japan Council’s webinar “Unlocking Japan’s Renewable Energy Future.”*

In her video message she introduced Tokyo’s strategies to accelerate the implementation of renewable energy, including the HTT energy conservation campaign, the 2025 solar panel mandate for new houses, and the city’s newly established Renewable Energy Board of Experts

Governor Koike concluded her message by saying, “The issue of climate change has no borders. We must take action now. It is ‘TIME TO ACT’. Let’s move forward together.”

Tokyo will continue to take the lead in municipal climate action by promoting renewable energy utilization in addition to deepening cooperative efforts with various international organizations.
