On Tuesday, June 13, 2023, a delegation of 28 members, including Magistrate Chung Tung-chin, from Miaoli County, Taiwan, visited the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government presented its initiatives for controlling air pollution and the attendees from both parties enthusiastically exchanged their opinions.
Located in the central northern part of Taiwan, Miaoli County has seen remarkable commercial and industrial development in recent years.
It became apparent during the session that the county places great importance on the environment, particularly on addressing air pollution, in order to make it a better place to live.
Miaoli County is famous for its hot springs, ceramics and even fruits, such as strawberries. In recent years, it has been committed to protecting its scenic environment, including the leopard cat, a rare wild cat species native to Taiwan.

Led by Magistrate Chung, Miaoli County is working on its smart city initiative, focusing on the green energy industry.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government will continue to deepen cooperation with global cities and international organizations to help improve the urban environment.
