Introducing Tokyo Metropolitan Government selected by CDP as an A-List city

In November 2021, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government was selected as an A-List city by the CDP, a non-profit charity that operates a global disclosure system for organizations’ management of environmental impact.* The A-List is the highest honor that the CDP bestows. To date, the CDP has recognized three Japanese municipal governments as A-List cities: Tokyo, Yokohama, and Kyoto.

*About the CDP The CDP is a non-profit charity that operates a global disclosure system aimed at helping companies and cities manage their environmental strategies and environmental impact. Every year, the CDP sends out disclosure questionnaires to companies and cities. Responses the CDP receives are analyzed, assessed and disclosed.

On December 3, the CDP Japan held a Symposium on Environmental Disclosures and Sustainable Finance for Local Governments. Yuriko Koike, the Governor of Tokyo, attended the ceremony to recognize the cities that made the CDP’s 2021 A-List cities. In her acceptance speech, Governor Koike said, “The strong actions, collaborations, and partnerships of global entities will change the world. Tokyo will take a leading role in global decarbonization.”

CDP Symposium

As a large metropolis, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government will continue to demonstrate its commitment to acting on climate change to help achieve global decarbonization.
