In November 2021, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government was selected as an A-List city by the CDP, a non-profit charity that operates a global disclosure system for organizations’ management of environmental impact.* The A-List is the highest honor that the CDP bestows. To date, the CDP has recognized three Japanese municipal governments as A-List cities: Tokyo, Yokohama, and Kyoto.
On December 3, the CDP Japan held a Symposium on Environmental Disclosures and Sustainable Finance for Local Governments. Yuriko Koike, the Governor of Tokyo, attended the ceremony to recognize the cities that made the CDP’s 2021 A-List cities. In her acceptance speech, Governor Koike said, “The strong actions, collaborations, and partnerships of global entities will change the world. Tokyo will take a leading role in global decarbonization.”
As a large metropolis, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government will continue to demonstrate its commitment to acting on climate change to help achieve global decarbonization.
